Fieldmark and Andrew Haldane

Fieldmark is a supplier of fine wines, gourmet cheeses, ingredients cheeses and other high quality foods from New Zealand. The business was recently established by Andrew Haldane, an ardent believer in New Zealand's ability to provide uncontaminated, high quality foods for export. Having successfully invested in and built up a sheep and cattle breeding farm in the extensive farming province of Hawkes Bay, in recent times his focus has turned to building an export supply business.

New Zealand

New Zealand is moving away from supplying solely bulk primary commodities towards a much wider range of boutique food products. Wineries situated on previously marginal sheep land are flourishing along with the enthusiastic wine makers engaged in making some of the worlds premium wines. Milk is no longer simply sold as powder, or bulk butter. Specialist processors have sprung up to provide interesting gourmet cheeses in traditional European styles both with a uniquely NZ flavour and texture. It's hard to beat product which uses milk from animals reared year round on free-range pasture. Numerous other industries are also evolving including meat, fruit and cereals.

The island nation of New Zealand has rigorous and stringent food safety regulations both domestically and for export foods governed by the New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA). Fieldmark is registered with this organisation and is a registered dairy exporter, including to EU markets. Being surrounded by the Southern and South Pacific oceans has its advantages for NZ as a food producing country. It is free from foot and mouth, has never had BSE (Mad Cow Disease) and has no nuclear power plants or nuclear contamination. Even foreign countries are refused entry with nuclear powered ships or submarines!

The Fieldmark Selection

Andrew selects wines, cheeses and other foods from producers who put their heart and soul into their products and who have a sustainable and responsible production protocol. These products are then presented to customers in offshore markets, providing a source of new and interesting flavours, at the same time providing exposure for otherwise undiscovered NZ producers.

Fieldmark customers include specialty food stores, delicatessens, restaurants, hotels, caterers, schools, corporations and other organisations both large and small.

A separate part of the Fieldmark business is in supplying and processing NZ wool. Commission processors convert the wool on behalf of Fieldmark into yarns and floorcoverings. This enables a completely customised product to be supplied by Fieldmark, from variable yarn counts through to unique colours and patterns in carpets and rugs.
